German DM 1 - SS-Typewriter 1939
This is a rare German DM 1 "Die Maschine des deutschen Mechanikers" (machine of the German mechanic)
or Olympia Type 8 typewriter by Olympia Werk Erfurt in a special Third Reich Edition
With the rare Nazi SS runic key and SS hammer !!
This is NOT a small portable typewriter. It's a FULL SIZE office type writer.
It is a very heavy machine (~37.6 lbs.!!!).
The keyboard is laid out in the QWERTZ pattern.
The Ä, Ö and Ü keys are also present on the right side of the keyboard.
The condition of the machine is still good with some rusty spots here and there.
The transparent disk window on the back is missing, the paper stop is missing,
the rear knurl or adjustment screw is somewhat damaged.
However most important, the machine is fully operational !!
Both spools are original metal. The ribbon could use a replacement.
The serial number is 335773 which translates to a manufacturing date of 1939
