Jagdgeschwader 27 in Afrika

This extremely rare DAK book from Jagdgeschwader 27 (JG 27) Africa was not commercially available, it was given to the soldiers of the squadron at Christmas 1942 to commemorate the war events in the desert of Africa in 1941 and 1942. The preface bears the facsimile signature of commander Edu Neumann.

JG 27 was a fighter wing of the Luftwaffe during World War II. The wing was given the name "Africa" for serving in the North African Campaign predominantly alone in the period from April 1941 to September 1942.

Hans-Joachim Marseille, the star of Africa, who died after 155 kills in 388 missions, is depicted in his fighter plane, as is Field Marshal Kesselring's visit to the German Africa Corps, and of course many of the country, people, camp life and maintenance work.
