Comradeship for Narvik
March to the north

The book is a very interesting photo documentation of the 2. Gebirgsjager Division about the campaign in Norway with Paratroopers, Mountain Troops, Kriegsmarine, regular Army with lots of great photos showing the men, their gear, uniforms, vehicles, etc.!

The original ad for this book reads:

As one of the greatest chapters of glory in German history, the Norwegian campaign will always be remembered—and above all, the victories achieved in Norway will shine like a comet under the name Narvik.

What the German task force deployed in Norway—consisting of courageous mountain troops under the command of the Tyrolean General Feurstein—accomplished in the area between Dronthiem and Narvik, and in support of Narvik, is documented through the images and reports in this book.

It was the mission of General Feurstein’s group to engage the hostile English, French, and Norwegian forces still holding out between Dronthiem and Narvik, and to relieve the heavily outnumbered group under General Dietl in Narvik. In a brilliant execution of this task, Feurstein’s group advanced over 800 kilometers in just a few weeks—fighting almost continuously against a numerically superior enemy—while overcoming every obstacle. Through their victories, achieved at great cost, they convinced the Norwegians of the futility of further resistance and forced the Western powers’ troops to flee the country. By holding their ground so steadfastly, they, along with their leadership, earned the gratitude and recognition of Narvik’s victor, General Dietl, for having demonstrated a truly great comradeship for Narvik.
