This rare photo book is dedicated to Field Marshal Paul von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg, Military Idol of the German People since his victory at Tannenberg and the Mazurian Lakes.

Depicted in this book is his birthplace, his family, his early military career, Hindenburg as Army Leader, Hindenburg as a statesman, memorial of Tannenberg, in his private life, the field marshal at maneuver, at marienburg, at potsdam, the final military parade, Hindenburg at his deathbed and finally moving into the court of honour of the tannenberg monument.

Paul von Hindenburg (1847–1934) was a battle-hardened general summoned back from retirement at the start of World War I. He and General Erich Ludendorff became popular with the German people after early successes against Russia and were often in disagreement with General Erich von Falkenhayn, chief of staff and supreme commander of the German army.
